What the Plan Models
The 3D plan, framing drawings, and BOM include the coop house with a walk-in clean-out door and window, an exterior-access nesting box bank, roost bars, a pop door with ramp, a ridge vent, predator latches, and (on run plans) a hardware-cloth run on 4×4 posts with a ground apron under the extended roof. Feeders, waterers, and automatic door openers are accessories you add after the build.
About This Design
Forty-eight square feet houses eight hens at the engine's 4 square feet per bird and is still small enough to tuck along a fence line. The 6×8 gable coop keeps the clean-out door on the gable end, a high side window for daylight, and a hardware-cloth ridge vent sized to the floor so the coop breathes without a draft at roost height.
Inside, a three-bay nesting box bank bumps out the side wall with an exterior lift-up lid, 120 linear inches of roost step up the opposite wall, and a 16-inch pop door with a cleated ramp opens onto whatever yard you fence. The extra two feet over the 6×6 go to the roost wall, which is where a flock of eight needs them.

Build Notes
Frame the shell, then cut the nest-bank and pop-door rough openings from the wall framing drawings before siding. The nest bank hangs on the studs at an 18-inch sill; the roost bars are removable 2×4s on cleats, stepped so no bar sits over a nest.
Screen the ridge vent with ½-inch hardware cloth before the cap goes on, and use a slide-bolt latch on the pop door — raccoons open simple hooks. No run is framed in this plan; fence a yard off the pop door or choose the 8×12 coop-with-run.
Best For
Best for a small backyard flock of up to 8 hens where you want to walk in and clean without a reach-in hatch. A smaller flock can save with the 6×6; if you want the day yard framed under the same roof, choose the 8×12 coop-with-run.
